Welcome

This is the new site for the Orrville Class of 1976.  Welcome.  We're glad you are here.

This site was created with the same spirit our class has always shown, from junior high through high school and now way beyond.  We have stuck together through thick and now thinning hair, from the famous jeans sit-in through high waist, then low rise and now thank goodness spandex jeans. We've watched our children grow and now have grandchildren and for a few of us great grandchildren and still feel a strong connection to each other.  Even though all the school buildings we loved so well, are now gone, the fabulous memories we made can never be taken.  Here we are, once again with one fewer beloved classmate.  We now realize how precious our time is and I hope you agree we should take every opportunity to see each other whenever possible.  I hope to see all of you reading this, at the next get together/fund-raiser and not so far away 40th reunion.

Doc always asked for and encouraged comments, ideas and suggestions, this site is here for you~the Orrville class of 1976.  This is your site to create, add to, and share the way you see fit. Submit posts to: ruthjohnston1957@gmail.com.

Our first posting "Thanks Doc"

We dedicate the first posting of this page to our dear friend "Doc" Lehman. As many of you know he used his writing skills to maintain our webpage for many years. Sadly, with his death, he took the passwords to that page with him. We know that Doc would approve as we move forward with a fresh new look!

ORRVILLE -- Mark R. "Doc" Lehman, 56, of Orrville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, after a long battle with heart disease.

He was born Oct. 18, 1957, in Orrville to Randall and Maxine (Smith-Horst) Lehman, and was a 1976 graduate of Orrville High School. He had spent most of his life in Orrville and Apple Creek, and married Carol S. Gentry. She survives.
He had worked for three decades in the motorsports industry as a race track promoter, sanctioning body owner/official, marketing and public relations representative, radio broadcaster and journalist.

He was co-owner, co-producer and co-host of Thrills On Wheels and Dirt Racers radio programs and was the associate producer and head writer for Racing On Dirt TV program.

In 2005-06, he also assisted the production team of CNN (Cable News Network) on the program CNN Presents: Dirt Track Warriors documentary that aired July 1, 2006.

He also appeared on-camera at length. Over the years he won numerous awards including several promoter of the year awards, as well as prestigious Racing America Media Member of the Year for seven years, five of them consecutively.

In 2006, he was inducted into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame for Outstanding Contribution to the sport. He retired from motorsports in 2007.
